Why don’t we accept insurance?

Apr 2, 2026 | insurance

One of the most common questions we get is:

“Do you accept insurance?”

The short answer is no, and we want to take a moment to explain why, because it ultimately comes down to providing you with the best possible care.

It Starts With How We Define Chiropractic Care

At 3318 Chiropractic and Wellness, we focus on what we believe is true chiropractic care: Restoring proper movement and alignment to the spine so the body can function the way in which it was designed.

However, most insurance plans don’t actually prioritize this approach. Instead, they tend to reimburse more readily for things like:

  • Electrical stimulation
  • Ultrasound
  • Hot/cold therapies
  • Passive modalities

While these services can sometimes provide temporary relief, they often don’t address the root cause of the problem.

Our focus is different.
We prioritize specific, hands-on care that improves spinal function, not just short-term symptom relief.

Insurance Often Dictates Care. We Don’t Think It Should

When a provider is in-network with insurance, they are required to follow the insurance company’s rules for:

  • What care is covered
  • How often you can be seen
  • What type of treatment is “allowed”

That means your care plan is no longer based solely on what you need, but also on what your insurance will approve. We believe your health decisions should stay between you and your provider, not a third party.

The Financial Reality Most People Don’t See

Here’s something many patients don’t realize:

Insurance companies typically reimburse providers at a significantly reduced rate, often far below the true value of the service. To make up for that, many offices are forced to:

  • Increase their overall pricing
  • See a higher volume of patients
  • Or shift toward services that are better reimbursed

Unfortunately, this system often ends up hurting the people who are paying out of pocket the most.

At our office, we’ve chosen a different path:

  • Transparent pricing
  • No inflated fees
  • No need to “work the system”

Just straightforward care.

A Simpler, More Transparent Approach

Even though we don’t bill insurance directly, we still support you if you want to use your benefits.

We provide all patients with:

  • Detailed receipts
  • Proper documentation
  • Necessary codes

So you can submit claims to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, just like many people did years ago.

What This Means for You

Choosing a chiropractic office that doesn’t accept insurance means:

  • Your care is based on what you need, not what’s covered
  • Your visits are focused on results, not checkboxes
  • Pricing is clear and consistent
  • You’re not paying higher rates to offset insurance contracts

Our Philosophy

We’re not against insurance. It has an important place, especially for major medical needs.

But when it comes to restoring function, improving movement, and caring for your spine, we believe a more direct, patient-centered approach leads to better outcomes.

At the end of the day, our goal is simple: Help you move better, feel better, and stay active, without unnecessary limitations.

If you have questions about how this works or whether chiropractic care is right for you, we’re always happy to help you make the best decision for your health. Schedule your FREE Movement and Function Assessment at 3318chiro.janeapp.com to learn more about how we can possibly help you.
