What If We Treated Ourselves More Like Plants?

Jul 7, 2026 | health, lifestyle, wellness

If you’ve ever had a houseplant, you know the basics.

Give it water.

Give it good soil.

Give it sunlight.

Ignore those things long enough, and the plant starts to struggle.

So here’s a question…

Why do we assume we’re any different?

Our bodies weren’t designed to spend every day indoors under fluorescent lights. We were built to move, breathe fresh air, connect with other people, and yes… spend some time in the sunshine.

Sunlight does more than brighten your day. It helps regulate your body’s internal clock, supports healthy sleep patterns, and plays an important role in vitamin D production. Many people also notice that spending time outside improves their mood and helps them feel more energized.

Of course, like most things in life, balance matters.

Too much sun isn’t a good idea, and protecting your skin during prolonged exposure is important. But avoiding the outdoors altogether may not be the answer either.

At 33/18 Chiropractic & Wellness, we believe health isn’t built by one magic pill or one perfect habit.

It’s built by consistently doing the simple things well.

๐ŸŒฑ Move your body.

๐ŸŒž Spend some time outside.

๐Ÿ’ง Stay hydrated.

๐Ÿ˜ด Prioritize sleep.

๐Ÿค Stay connected with the people you love.

Those habits may not be flashy, but together they create a strong foundation for a healthier life.

Just like a plant, your body thrives when it’s given what it was designed to need.

So today, take your coffee outside.

Walk around the block.

Sit on the porch.

Your body just might thank you.

The 33/18 Challenge

This week, spend 15 minutes outside every day. Take a walk, read a book on the porch, eat lunch outside, or simply enjoy the sunshine. Small, consistent habits are what build lasting health.
